Chad Lowe's eldest daughter, Mabel, 17, has posted a deeply emotional tribute to her younger sister Fiona, who died on September 29 at just 13 years old — sharing a series of throwback photographs and videos capturing the two girls growing up side by side.
Fiona, the daughter of Emmy-winning actor and director Chad Lowe and his wife, producer Kim Painter, was pronounced dead at a local hospital at 1.14am on September 29. The coroner's office subsequently ruled her death a suicide. The confirmed cause of death was disclosed after the family's initial announcement did not specify how Fiona had died.
Mabel's Tribute to Fiona Lowe
In a moving online post, Mabel shared memories of her younger sister through childhood photos and videos, accompanying them with words that conveyed both grief and love.
"I love you so much Fiona. I wish your short time here was easier and I hope your mind is at ease now," Mabel wrote. "I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, I hope you knew just how much."
The message captured not only the depth of her loss but also a quiet wish — that Fiona, who had not yet reached her 14th birthday, had found peace. Fiona would have turned 14 on November 16.
Family and Community United in Grief
Chad Lowe, best known for his roles in Life Goes On and Pretty Little Liars, and Painter released a joint statement following their daughter's death, describing Fiona as a "loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance."
"She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives," the couple said. "Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time."
Lowe and Painter share three daughters: Mabel, 17, Fiona, 13, and Nixie, 10.
Lowe's father, Charles "Chuck" Lowe, was among the first to publicly acknowledge his granddaughter's passing, posting a tribute on Instagram the day after the family's announcement. He later shared additional photos of all three sisters together, writing: "Rest in peace sweet Fiona."
The grief has extended well beyond the family home. Sources close to Fiona's school and community described a community rallying together in the wake of the tragedy.
"This is a devastating time for the community," one source said. "Fiona was sweet, quiet and kind. Dance was her biggest passion, she had a very artistic soul. She was always kind to other students. Many of her friends are out today grieving."
A Call for Mental Health Support
In their statement, Lowe and Painter took the opportunity to encourage anyone who may be struggling with their mental health to seek support — a gesture that spoke to the broader circumstances of their daughter's death.
Fiona's passing has prompted an outpouring of tributes from family, friends and the wider public, all mourning a young girl whose love of dance and gentle nature left a clear impression on those around her.
Tributes continue to flow as the family requests privacy during what they describe as an unimaginably painful time.
